Ana Elena Tejera presents the exhibition La casa de los animales at Solar – Cinematic Art Gallery, together with the performance Vela, as part of the Circular Performing Arts Festival in Vila do Conde. At the same time, she presents the exhibition Los sucesos que llevaron a su olvido at the Batalha Cinema Centre in Porto, as well as the performance Un suceso político y otros asuntos del Diablo.

Between cinema and performance, the restoration of archive films and installation, the multidisciplinary artistic practice of Ana Elena Tejera — whose work was first presented in Portugal in the context of the New Voices and International Competition section of Curtas Vila do Conde — is closely linked to the geographical particularities of Panama, her country of origin, a place of passage, migrations, exchanges, disconnections and conflicts. The nature and history of Panama and, essentially, its human complexity, rich in mysticism, rituals, traditions and a culture of resistance, are the conceptual basis of her work, which makes an intimate political statement.
