On March 8th, at 4 PM, the opening of the ANIMAR 20 exhibition took place at Solar - Cinematic Art Gallery. This exhibition celebrates Portuguese animation cinema and marks an important milestone commemorating two decades of continuous programming.

In addition to the opening of the exhibition, which allowed the public to interact with the artists and their works, the opening day of ANIMAR 20 also featured a screening of the film Flow, directed by Gints Zibalodis, winner of the Oscar for Best Animated Film.

The exhibition will be the epicentre of a series of activities that will continue until it closes on June 7th. Highlights include: Meet the Artists, themed workshops with the exhibiting artists; an Open-Air Cinema session with all the films in the exhibition; and a Closing Session with Paul Berger's film Robot Dreams, as well as screenings of the making-of and short films produced during Animar's Long Term Workshops.

The Animar project, promoted by Solar - Cinematic Art Gallery and promoted by Curtas Metragens C.R.L.'s Educational Service, proposes new tools, means and methodologies that introduce the principle of learning through a participatory experience. It results from an innovative proposal to raise awareness of art, decode the image and mobilize transversal knowledge, stimulating the imagination through the principle of learning by playing.
