'ANIMAL', by Fá Maria, presented at CAVE
Fá Maria explores the limits of what is considered organic, natural or aberrant, through the body and the voice.
The CAVE project presented the exhibition ANIMAL by Fá Maria, a sound and video piece in which identity is linked to the intersection of the voice, physical organs and technology. The installation uses the body and the voice, probably the most intimate of instruments, as a method of investigation. It explores the limits of what is considered organic, synthetic, natural or aberrant.
Filmed with an endoscopy camera, the video explores the mouth and throat in an intimate and visceral way, with a voyeuristic tone. Cavities where shouting, singing, blowing, talking, coughing, gargling, eating, breathing, spitting, vomiting, but also sex and pleasure take place. The music is entirely composed of voice and A.I. software training for voice synthesis.
The exhibition is organized by Curtas Metragens CRL, as part of the programming of Solar – Cinematic Art Galley, with the support of Vila do Conde Municipality and the Direção-Geral das Artes.
