My Grandfather’s Demons (Portugal/Spain, 2022, ANI, 90'), Nuno Beato's first feature film, marks the opening session of ANIMAR 18.

The film tells the story of Rosa, a top professional who leads a demanding life entirely dedicated to her work, but who is confronted with the death of her grandfather, from whom she had progressively distanced herself, causing her a sudden attack of stress, which puts her choices in doubt.

Nuno Beato is a director and trainer, co-creator of the production companies LAMPADACESA and Sardinha em Lata, author of the series Ema & Gui and of the award-winning film Mi Vida en Tus Manos.

Celebrating one of the best years ever of animation films in Portugal, the 18th edition of ANIMAR proposes, from March 4, 2023, a program centered on animation cinema, which goes through an exhibition, guided tours and thematic workshops at Solar – Cinematic Art Gallery, taking as starting point the films My Grandfather’s Demons, The Pink Jacket, Garrano, Cold Soup, Nayola and Slow Light. The ANIMAR activities extend to film screenings at the Vila do Conde Municipal Theater and Auditorium, and at the schools.
