On Saturday, July 18th, 2026, at 4:30 p.m., Solar – Cinematic Art Gallery will open Miranda Pennell’s first exhibition in Portugal.

In the exhibition H is for History N is for Now, the discovery of historical aerial photographs of the territory that would become Iraq reveals the tension between the abstract beauty of the landscape and the violence that these images silence. As the archive is explored, the contours of the earth’s surface transform into traces of trauma, memory, and destruction, questioning the relationship between preservation, forgetting, and representation. The exhibition thus highlights one of the existential dualities and psychological tensions that characterize the contemporary world: the attraction and repulsion we feel in the face of a growing awareness of the connections between human experience, history, and planetary transformations.
