In an art residence at Solar – Cinematic Art Gallery, Sara Graça approached large-format photography on one hand, and on the other, the framing of horizons as a cinematic cliché. In addition to these points of reference, Graça worked with a group of teenagers from Vila do Conde and the surrounding area, with whom she created a printed object resulting from five days of experimentation with visualisation, writing, drawing, collage, shadow theatre and photography exercises. The “future”, associated with divination and anxieties, was once again linked to the horizon line as a visual starting point.
Continuing this work process, and after her visit to Vila do Conde - this time on Carcavelos beach - Graça filmed three pairs of young people who responded to posters scattered on the streets.
It is part of these images and dialogue captured in Carcavelos, together with some of the photographs taken in Vila do Conde, that Graça shares in this exhibition.
The printed objects resulting from the workshop she developed will also be available for consultation.
