The exhibition at Solar gives us the opportunity to see Jacob’s work in a consistent and multifaceted perspective. By exhibiting in our gallery a considerable amount of Jacobs’ videos and other digital experiments with moving images we will be able to grasp some of the central issues of his work such as the viewer’s relationship with the “cinematic unconscious”. The exhibition revolves around some of his most recent digital experiments with appropriated material. The work shown illustrates some of the most relevant aspects of his current work: the use of images from the early days of cinema and material from his own personal archive such as photos and home movies where he revisits his family and his circle of friends, Jonas Mekas, Peter Kubelka, Hollis Framptom and many others.
